The Picnic House, opened in 2012 by Portland restaurateurs Aaron and Jessica Grimmer across the street from the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, has become one of the staples of downtown Portland’s flourishing culinary scene, welcoming guests to enjoy its seasonal, picnic-inspired New American cuisine, historic space, and heartfelt hospitality. We offer family style dinners designed to spark conversation and create a warm atmosphere with your guests, as well as traditional plated dinners and shared appetizers for a cocktail event.
Situated in the nearly century-old lobby of the original Heathman Hotel in the heart of downtown Portland, OR, The Picnic House takes occasional time-off from its highly-acclaimed lunch/dinner service to transform into a first-class event space. We have hosted everything from gubernatorial luncheons to corporate mixers to holiday parties to weddings. With a full-service, individually-tailored event menu, a capacity of 125 seated (175 standing), and a venue that exudes the historical charm of Old Portland, The Picnic House is the perfect venue for your next event!
